The best Autumnal cheese toastie, in my opinion. Our Black Bursa Fig Preserve works perfectly here combined with ham and cheese in a toastie. We've added fresh fig too for some fruitiness, but it is equally delicious without.
Although it works perfectly, if you’re not a fan of blue cheese, it can be easily switched for another cheese - but make it punchy as the sweet fig preserve works best with a salty cheese to balance the flavours.
Spread one side of each slice of sourdough with the butter - this will become the outside of the toastie. On the other side of bread, generously spread with the fig preserve.
To one slice of sourdough add the fresh fig slices (if using) before adding the blue cheese and mozzarella.
Lay on the sliced ham before adding the second slice of sourdough (butter-side facing out, fig side facing in) sandwiching the filling together.
Place in a medium-hot frying pan or griddle and toast for 2 - 3 minutes on either side until golden and the cheese inside has started to melt.
Remove from the heat, slice in half and serve straight away. Enjoy!
