NEW Black Bursa Fig Preserve

As we move into autumn, we have been busy in the kitchen working on a brand new limited edition flavour for this season, and are very proud to announce that we have launched Black Bursa Fig Preserve.

 
 

Packed full of the tastiest Turkish figs, our new Black Bursa Fig Preserve is beautifully sweet and full of juicy pieces of figs. Like the rest of the preserve range, it contains much more fruit and less sugar than a traditional jam, resulting in a highly fruity reduced sugar product.

Plus it is really versatile! Not only is it delicious on porridge or toast for breakfast this winter, it is also delicious eaten with cheese making it the perfect accompaniment to any cheeseboard.

NEW Blood Orange Marmalade

This week we’re really pleased to announced that we have doubled our marmalade range as we launched our new Blood Orange Marmalade as a sidekick to our award winning Seville Orange Marmalade.

 
 

We felt our Seville Orange Marmalade was getting a bit lonely being the only marmalade in our range, so we have extended the range with the launch of Blood Orange Marmalade.

Unlike the Seville Orange Marmalade, which has a traditional bitter flavour, the Blood Orange Marmalade has a sweet, tangy flavour. So if you’re not a fan of the bitterness you usually get from marmalade, then this is the perfect marmalade to try.

We love it served on French toast or crepes for a weekend brunch treat, or glazed onto a roast chicken.

Spotlight On....Jalapeño Jam

This week I thought I’d focus on one of our best selling jams which is our Jalapeño Jam. Our range of chilli jams are incredibly popular and versatile, from being used as a condiment, a glaze or in place of a chutney.

 
 

The jalapeño chilli, pronounced ‘halapeno’, is a bullet shaped green chilli originating from Xalapa in Mexico which is what the chilli was named after. It is most commonly picked and eaten when it is still green, much like in our Jalapeño Jam, although if allowed to fully ripen it would turn red. Today, Jalapeño chillies have become very popular and mainstream in the UK due to the embedding of Mexican cuisine in our diets.

When it comes to our Jalapeño Jam, we are very proud that it won a Great Taste Award in 2017. The judges commented that ‘ The jalapeno aroma is excellent. The balance of sweet and heat works very well and the length of flavour is just wonderful. We loved its versatility and spent quite a while listing how it could be used.  Altogether a delicious, lively, well balanced piquant jelly.'

Jalapeño Jam is delicious with cheese, meats and even eggs. With that in mind, here are a few ways of using our Jalapeño Jam.

Jalapeño Jam makes a great accompaniment or topping for lots of different things. Loaded nachos is a firm favourite and rather than adding slices of jalapeños, drizzle over some Jalapeño Jam instead.

Eggs and Jalapeño Jam is a incredible combination. Try serving it with scrambled egg, drizzling over poached egg, or even with egg & soldiers smothering jalapeño jam on toast before dipping into a a runny egg.

BBQ Chilli Jam Ideas

With the great British summer upon us, it’s time to dust off the BBQ’s and get al fresco eating. And what better way to accompany your BBQ than with some chilli jams? Our range of chilli jams are delicious with any BBQ and here are a few ideas to get you started.

Halloumi Kebabs

Cut halloumi and red onion into chunks, and cut cherry tomatoes in half. Thread onto kebab skewers, and grill on the BBQ, turning occasionally until cooked. Serve with Jalapeño Jam to dip your kebabs in to.

Corn on the Cob

Grill corn on the cobs on the BBQ until cooked, turning occasionally. Smother Lemon Drop Chilli Jam all over the cooked corn cobettes. Return to the BBQ for a few minutes to caramelise the jam onto the corn.

Take barbecued sausages, and smother over Jalapeño Jam in bread for the ultimate BBQ sausage sandwich.

Once your burger is cooked on the BBQ, add some cheese and leave until melted. Serve in a soft glazed bun with a generous dollop of your favourite chilli jam.
